The members of Brgy. Potrero, Malabon City's local government unit (LGU) and Home Owners' Association (HOA) conducted a field visit to Brgy. Fort Bonifacio's Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) today, Feb 25.
Supported by ACCORD and the Mother Earth Foundation (MEF), brgy. Potrero will launch its Solid Waste Management (SWM) campaign starting this March. Recyclables are turned into bricks and other handicrafts while biodegradable wastes are composted and used as organic fertilizers. The visit to MEF's partner community was for the barangay to have an idea of how managing a community-based MRF is.
Through an effective SWM, we aim to lessen the effects of floods to the fluvial barangay of Potrero. Through systems and processes which are natural, we can mitigate risks while restoring ecosystem health.
